My brother and his beautiful girlfriend, Erin, came out from California right around my birthday. It was so amazing to have them here, never mind at prime birthday celebration time. We wanted to do something special to commemorate their time back East that everyone could enjoy, kids included. We decided on a lovely little hike and picnic to one of my favorite waterfalls in our area, Adams Creek Falls. It’s not a very difficult hike by any stretch of the imagination. It’s a quiet straightforward 2 mile out and back hike that is absolutely perfect on a hot day because of the four different water cascades and several water holes. Crossing the creek can sometimes be tricky to navigate, especially with a squirmy toddler in a pack, a full picnic basket, and a camera but we managed. About a mile in there’s a beautiful watering hole where we set up shop and picnicked on an outlying of rocks. The boys showed off their rock skipping skills to Erin while Uncle Elliot and Finn bonded with some fossil hunting. There was even a mossy ledge where I practiced a little vasisthasana. Oh, it was a beautiful day. There were so many many smiles.
